Terms & Conditions — Pele

Last updated: August 2026

These Terms & Conditions are an agreement between you and Pele Reading Ltd. ("Pele", "we", "us", or "our") governing your use of the Pele reading service at pele-reading.com and read.pele-reading.com, a reading-fluency program intended for home learning. Only a parent or legal guardian may register; you must read and accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy before creating an account for a child.

1. Reading assessment and voice processing

The service includes read-aloud practice in which your child reads text aloud. You acknowledge and agree that your child's reading sessions may involve voice processing and related learning data stored in the system.

Purpose: recordings and related data are used solely to analyse reading fluency, operate the learning experience, and improve the product. Details appear in our Privacy Policy.

Research and development: any future use of data for research or product development will be fully anonymised, without identifiable details of the child or family.

Automated analysis: the service uses automated speech-recognition technology to compare your child's reading to the expected text. It does not make binding legal, medical, or diagnostic decisions—only educational feedback.

2. Terms of use and home learning environment

Equipment and internet: parents are responsible for stable home internet and working equipment (computer/tablet and microphone). We are not liable for technical failures caused by home infrastructure or equipment.

Quiet environment: to support recording quality, parents should provide a quiet workspace without significant background noise.

Independent work: for an accurate picture of your child's reading, practice should be performed by the child alone, without reading words for them during the session.

3. Limitation of liability and intellectual property

The service is provided "as is". In-app metrics are for learning and product development only; they are not a formal diagnosis or binding professional opinion.

We are not liable for any damage or claim relating to use of the system, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

You may not copy, photograph, distribute, or transfer system materials or access credentials to third parties. We may suspend or terminate the service or your access at any time.

4. Parent or legal guardian confirmation

By creating an account and checking the consent box at signup, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian, that you have read and understood these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and that you agree to them.

You give informed consent for your child to use the service, including voice processing as part of the reading practice described above.

Under applicable law, a minor cannot validly consent to processing of their personal data. Parental or guardian consent is required before a child uses the service.

5. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the service shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Tel Aviv, subject to mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence where applicable.

6. AI-enabled reading features

The core reading practice uses automated speech-recognition technology to compare your child's read-aloud performance to the expected text and provide educational feedback. This is an AI-enabled feature: it may make mistakes, is not a medical or diagnostic assessment, and does not produce binding legal or professional decisions.

Speech may be processed on the device by your browser's speech-recognition services (e.g. Apple, Google, Microsoft) under their own terms. We do not currently send audio to third-party AI vendors for server-side transcription. Voice recordings and related data are not used to train public foundation models (see also Privacy Policy Section 7).

7. Eligibility

Only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older may register and manage an account. The service is designed for children roughly ages 6–18 under parental or guardian supervision. Child users may use the service only with the consent described in Section 4.

8. Indemnification and changes to these Terms

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pele Reading Ltd. from claims arising from your misuse of the service, false representation that you are a parent or legal guardian, or violation of these Terms, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, unless applicable law requires a different process.

9. Feedback and suggestions

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas (for example via our contact form or in-app feedback), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use them to improve the service without obligation or compensation to you.

10. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Price changes: we may change prices. Any change to a recurring price takes effect at your next renewal, and we will notify you by email at least 30 days beforehand. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before your renewal date.

Failed payments: if a payment fails, Paddle may retry it. If payment cannot be collected we may suspend access until the balance is settled.

11. Refunds and cancellation

You may request a refund within 14 days of the charge at https://paddle.net, or by emailing dev@pele-reading.com. If a refund is issued, access to Pele ends.

Your statutory rights: if you are a consumer in the European Union or EEA, the United Kingdom, Israel, or another country that grants mandatory cancellation or withdrawal rights for distance purchases, those rights apply in full and nothing in these Terms limits them.

How refunds are issued: approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, typically within 14 days of approval.

Questions about billing or a refund: request a refund at https://paddle.net, email dev@pele-reading.com, or call +972 52-818-0008. We aim to respond within two business days.

12. The Progress Promise

Practice with Pele for at least one hour a week for six months. If your child does not show progress on their follow-up assessment, they can continue at no additional cost until they do.

The Promise applies to an active paid subscription and requires a completed initial reading check and a completed follow-up assessment. Continued access under the Promise is provided at no additional charge to you.

This document provides general terms for the Pele service operated by Pele Reading Ltd. It does not replace individual legal advice. For privacy rights and data processing, see the Privacy Policy.
